No, it helps when printing to any printer, Postscript, Laser or ink. ATM is
the font rasterizer for the fonts to be scaled to any size. The ATM Deluxe
also does some font smoothing on the screen, much like the option in the
appearance control panel. The Deluxe version also has the ability to
activated and deactivate fonts and create sets of fonts to de/activate. It
can also auto activated fonts when opening a document that contains a font
not currently active.
Adobe Type Reunion (ATR) is another program that helps font families be
united in the menu list when you select fonts.

Helvetiva Bold
Helvetica Italic
Turns to:
Helvetica
Bold
Italic
BoldItalic
Times
Bold
Italic
Etc...
Adobe has stopped supporting both of these programs. I have been using them
for years and am MUCH FRUSTRATED that they have been discontinued. There are
some updates on the Adobe site for both of the programs to bring them up to
the final revisions. (scroll to the bottom...)

Also both of the programs are OS 9.x only. I know that the ATM light works
in the Classic mode of X and I will find out how well ATR will work tomorrow
in Classic...
