One thing easily overlooked is, are you pluggin the monitor in (on the Mac) before you ever boot the machine. You need to have the monitor plugged in the very first time you put the card in the machine. Other than that, try the slower ROM file. Even though the RAM may be able to handle the speed, maybe the processor or some other component is having problems.
