Hi Andreas, I have been selling Sony CRX-140 CDRW's on the swap list for a while. They are 8x4x32 but several people with Apple machines have been reporting back to me that they are bootable. Funny thing is, I haven't even tried to boot one in my s900 yet (guess I'll have to try it someday soon). Now I don't know if these are Apple Rommed or not, but apparently they work.
So if you can find one on ebay or somewhere else where you live, it would give you a good inexpensive cdrw option. Hope this helps. Dave > Hi, > and thanks for the info.
