I'm more interested in tinkering with learning the language or code, whichever is the correct terminology. As for actually performing tasks on it by means of a functioning OS, that's probably far far beyond my level. Although I dispised Fortran during the keypunch card days, I feel like I may have the patience these days to plod through the learning process. This would be more for brain stimulation then anything else. If it progresses beyond that, well, then great. But one (slow) step at a time.
