Hoping someone can help me!
I have a Umax Apus 2000 (SuperMac C500), this has been upgraded with a Phase5 Aptus G3/300 processor. All I am trying to do is upgrade the memory to the maximum of 144MB, by installing 2 64MB EDO dimms (replacing the 32mb and 16mb dimms I currently have installed).
I've now purchased three sets of supposedly suitable memory from different vendors, and they all give me the same problem. With both new dimms installed the Mac chimes, but doesn't boot (no video). With one installed (and one old dimm), the Mac boots but then crashes with a "bus error" even when extensions are off.
For some reason I got it into my head that it was a logic board problem, and replaced it with a new one from NewSell (www.newsell.de). Unfortunately for me I still have the same problem.
My best guess now, is it has something to do with the Aptus card - but surely others have got these with no problems? Unfortunately I no longer have the original chip to test against.
Anyway here are the specs of the memory I am trying to get to work:
64MB (8x64-60ns) 5V Buffered EDO DIMM listed as suitable for C500/600 with or without upgrade cards.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful!
