Hi Nils,

I bought the memory from RAM direct (an ebay store in the States) - who specifically stated it was C500 + upgrade card compatible, but perhaps he has just based this on the spec and never actually installed it.

It seems from the old SuperMac support site that the Apus is very picky with 64mb dimms. Perhaps you could let me know where you got yours and I could give them a try? I am beginning to think I perhaps should have ordered my RAM from NewSell.de as well, it is a lot more expensive, but I expect it works!!

Alternatively - if anyone on the list wants to sell me some extra RAM that has been tested in a C500/Apus - I am interested!

Thanks a lot,

David

I have a Umax Apus 2000 (SuperMac C500), this has been upgraded with a

memory to the maximum of 144MB, by installing 2 64MB EDO dimms
(replacing the 32mb and 16mb dimms I currently have installed).

64MB (8x64-60ns) 5V Buffered EDO DIMM listed as suitable for C500/600
 with or without upgrade cards.

I have this very setup (2 x 64 MB and Phase5 Aptus G3/300 MHz) and no problems at all. So I do not think it is the processor. However, when I orignally bought the RAM the German vendor was very reluctant to sell it to me, because he said he had heard of stability problems of the Apus machines with the RAM maxed out (I have no other report of this stability problem, though). Perhaps this applies to you? Have you bought RAM chips of the highest quality?
