I haven't been following this thread in detail so forgive me if you already responded to this issue. However, as an earlier poster pointed out, the USB card will not show up in Apple System Profiler if it is installed in the lower slots. Nevertheless, it may be functional.


The only way to really tell is to install the card in the lower slots and try to use it to do something. ASP is not reliable with respect to cards in the lower slots.

USB cards *should* work fine in the lower slots. :-) Combined USB/Firewire cards will not work in the lower slots, except under very limited conditions (mostly leaving the other three slots empty).
