This is what I had to do in the end. Couldn't get anything to fix the blue
screen problem. Jag's "archive & install" with the preserve users option is
really great. Everything is back up & working in 10.2. Guess I'll just
have to forgo the update for now.

Glad to hear your back up and running ;-) I never did figure out what went wrong with 10.2.5 update for me. However the second time it installed with no troubles at all. When you have the time you might as well go for the 10.2.8 Combo upgrade. It is perhaps the last free upgrade for Jaguar. Panther (10.3) arrives Oct 24th ! I'll be installing as soon as Ryan works the kinks out of XPFacto 3.0. It's coming along and Firewire booting and CD booting with OSX utility disks are already working on many machines including the UMAX S900/J700. later Will S
