Hi, Running OS 9.0.4 on an S900, 500+ megs of RAM, a Sonnet Tempo/66 card with two 45-gig IBM drives on it, as well as an external 48-gig U/W "Big Foot" drive.
We swapped out machines in an upgrade party at the office, an this particular S900 became the secondary graphics station. In the process we removed the IBM drives from two machines (and their respective Sonnet Tempo cards), moving them to this machine. Then the problems began. Sonnet doesn't list this on the Web site, but one of their techs told me that once you've formatted a drive on a specific card with a specific firmware setting, you can't move the drive, even to another Sonnet card. Well, thanks Sonnet for not having that posted! The drives both now give off bus errors on booting, when selected as the startup disks. Going with extensions off doesn't help, I get the same results. The external is slow and we really don't want to use it as the startup disk. Has anybody encountered anything like this? Any ideas as to what we can do? We need larger drives and SCSI or Firewire drives are too expensive. I'd really like to see the IDE drives work out. Thanks for any help you can offer. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
