Do you already have the card? I ask because I think you'd be better
off with the Voodoo 3. The V2, IIRC requires that you pass through
regular video to the V2 card, so if you want improved video over your
built-in video and 3-D support, you end up using two PCI cards. The
V3 was an all-in-one card which only took one slot and provided a
complete solution.

I don't remember the details for either card, but I would check
xlr8yourmac.com and look on the top bar for the links to sections of
articles and choose video.

General info on Voodoo cards can be found here

The Voodoo II card was indeed a pass-thru.

the Voodoo III was a far better solution. Here is an old review of
one version of the beast: http://www.mac3dfx.com/voodoo_three.html

As to your question above; Voodoo II requires Drivers to work under OS
8.n and 9.n
I do not think it works at ALL in any flavor of X. Oh, and the II Glide
drivers ONLY work for full screen games never windowed.
Go here http://www.voodoofiles.com for a good discussion and histories
of various Voodoo cards.

As to the "Flash" spoken of, that is needed to use a PC Voodoo III card
in the Mac world (endian issue and other consderations). voodoofiles
kindly provides this link: http://www.voodoofiles.com/8674 to get the
flasher and drivers for the III.

for benchmark purposes, here is a good review of the Voodoo III with all
the graphs and data:
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/Graphics/voodoo3_drivertests.html

And once you get it working, go to
http://ftp.algx.net/idsoftware/macquake/ and download a copy of Quake to
check it out. Way cool ;)
