Since some have been talking about Panther,
I thought I would ask if there are different
OS CD's of Panther?
Some of the Mac OS CD's in the past we found out

on an s900?
I saw that directly through Apple, you can get
Panther 10.3 for $129 with no shipping charges.
But I havn't checked around yet.

Thanks, kim

Hi Kim,
I bought Panther from the Apple store for $129 USD. I installed it on 2 different hard drives in my G3, my G3 700 MHz iBook and right now I just started (5:30 PM) the install on my SuperMac G4 450 MHz using of course XpostFacto version 3.0a11. You must use XPF. But I got stuck with a screen with a circle with a line through it.

This happened to friend too and when we went to MacWorld, I introduced Ryan Rempel (the author of XPF) to my friend. Ryan Rempel is very friendly and he helped out. I have to ask my friend how he solved that if in fact he did. I didn't catch the explanation(-: I don't know but hopefully I'll get some kind of answer.

But Panther is great. Upgrading from Jag is painless on the other my other Macs and is just a few clicks to Panther. Your old desktop will be as you left it cluttered or clean but the picture you had if any will be gone and replace with the Panther pattern. Mail is great with it's follow the thread feature of your mail. Lots more.

I did have the Sys Prefs quit when I wanted to switch from Panther on disk 1 to Panther on disk 2. A window pops up prompting you fill out a bug report and send it.
