if you burned the DVD in a format your home DVD player can read, you can just rip the files. I think it is a bit more complicated than if you had a PC. Look at this site:

should give you some good info for getting your DVD vids on to your hard drive.

Can't remember if I asked this before.

On DVD-R or +R discs, is it possible to extract the data once a video
footage is burned ?
Let's say older home videos are transferred to a DVD discs and I want to
use the data for burning edited discs ?
