I just got a Lexar Firewire compact flash card reader, which is powered
by the bus.
(It has a 6-pin connection.)
Wasn't sure until I tried but it powers up and works fine connected to
the second port of the external Firewire drive without having to power
it up.
My first Firewire daisy-chaining...
