Hi,

I have several S900s in my office and I can't get one of them to send video
to the monitor.

Maybe I'm not stating that correctly, so here's what's taken place:

-- I did a fresh install of 9.0.4 on a fresh drive, but the Apple 20"
monitor kicks from the green "on" light, to the orange light, which I
presume is "standby."

-- So I replaced the video card, 16mb, from another machine. Same results.
Nothing.

-- I plugged the first video card into another machine. It worked okay.

-- Then I moved the monitor to another computer. It came on perfectly.

-- And then I took the drive to another computer. That S900 fired up just
fine.

-- Then I plugged another drive into this machine and it also spun up, but
gave no video.

So, I'm left with the conclusion that it is something else besides what has
been mentioned.

Questions:

1. Besides dealing with serious motherboard stuff, which I don't feel I am
capable of doing, what measures can I take to try to troubleshoot this? Has
this ever happened to you? What did you do to fix it?

2. If the video is blown on the motherboard, I can't imagine trying to
repair it. So, is it a major pain to pull the whole board out and put
another one in? I have a couple of spare machines that have been
cannibalized and both have boards in them, though I don't know the
conditions of each.

3.. Are there any pictures, drawings. or tutorials posted anywhere to help
if this is the route I need to take?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Jerry
