Sorry - forgot to put the reply into the reply!

Alan, I've been using the 7000 in my S900 for a couple of weeks now, with 9.1, and it seems to work fine. I don't remember exactly what the 9.2 components were for - something to do with a particular sort of acceleration, maybe? -but I don't have them, and haven't noticed any problems. I don't run games or anything that would require fast 3-D or motion display.

It also works fine with Jaguar - far better than the original Twin Turbo card card, which I never could figure out how to get to give up synching on green. I'm all ready to try it with Panther, but for some reason have not been able to start up from the installer disk, using XPostFacto.

One relatively minor disappointment: I had read that the 7000 supported two displays, and had planned to hook up an old Apple 13-inch monitor to put palettes on. I have to admit to not doing my homework here, but it seems that you can use two displays, but only one of them can be a standard crt monitor - the other connections are for TV and flat panel. Unless there's an adapter to connect a crt monitor to one of them, he added hopefully...

Oh, one other thing: I ordered mine from Megamacs, which seemed to have a good price, and it was on backorder from ATI, they said, for about a month! Don't know whether this is a common problem or not.

I vaguely recall needing some sort of Open GL extension from 9.2 to
operate this card in 9.1.

Anyone using this card in a s900 in 9.1 ?
Also, could it migrate to a X environment ?

I would need to install it in one of the lower slots.

(No, I don't want to mess with flashing the PC version.)

In the meantime, I'll start perusing some of the threads that were saved
in my archives as well as the XLR8urmac site.

Thanks !

Alan
