Hi, Im still working my way through my video problem and need some extra help.
Im running an S900 on 9.2.2, hooked to an Apple 20 monitor (several years old). I can get a Radeon 7000 Mac 32mb card on eBay for about $65 and thats fine for OS9 work, and apparently it will drive a Sonnet G4/800 card which the IX Micro Ult Rez 16mb card will not (now getting lovely green and purple screen). All this is fine 2. Except that Im told that Ill never get OSX to work with it, particularly Panther. Seems I need at least a G4 Blue & White to do that. 3. I dont know if this is because Id need 64mb to run OSX, or are there are other reasons??? 4. I read the thread from December and it appears that flashing is no longer possible. I might be able to flash something, but soldering isnt my thing. If somebody were to tell me exactly what card and what other components to buy, I could probably have somebody do it. But, Im in Guam, and Id have to get it right the first time. I dont have enough time to make mistakes, theres work to get done. Buying something that plugs in and works is probably the better way if it exists. So, what would you tell a guy who is getting his billable work done in OS9 and has to get this video situation fixed quickly, but who will probably attempt to migrate to Panther later this year? What are my best options to get this done cleanly? Or do I have to stay in OS9 with a 32mb Radeon card and forget Panther? Any help you can offer is appreciated. As you can tell, Im not technically oriented. Like Denzel Washington said in the movie, Philadelphia, Explain this to me like I was a three year-old. Thanks, Jerry -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
