What happens is that the iPod seems to go into a recharge mode, even when it has been recently recharged. iTunes will let you start a copy of a playlist to the iPod, but it never gets even the first song uploaded.
My theory had been that a minimum amount of power was needed on the FireWire bus and that the S900's motherboard just wasn't supplying enough (whereas the PM G4 did). I recently tried hooking up the iPod to the second FW port of a powered FW CD/ROM reader, thinking that that would supply the necessary power. No go. Do any of you have any opinions/experience to support or discredit my theory? Do you think a powered FW hub would work any better? My FireWire comes from a card I got at Other World Computing that has worked beautifully for external hard disks and CD/ROM.
I'd be grateful for any help or opinions.
Thanks, Gary G.
