Thank you for the info, I am curious though, both my C500 and C600 accept the higher IDE Drives, does this mean they have this PCI card and can it be transferred to the J700? I am a graphic designer, the work that will be done one the J700 will specifically graphics, I have not gotten into video or music editing. Appreciate the tip for MacSales, I will check them out, have purchased ram for this machine at Memory 4 U at $34.00.
Thanks again
Diane

I would put an ATA66 PCI card in it and use the larger, less expensive IDE drives. Be sure to flash the card to the latest upgrade when installed. The ATA100 and ATA133 cards aren't as useful in our machines unless you specifically wish to edit video. The ATA66 would also allow use of an IDE CD burner. As far as OS, Will S. runs Panther on his J700. Decide what you wish to run(software) then upgrade accordingly. Long live Supermacs. Get on the www.macsales email clearance list. They were selling 128MB RAM for the J700 for $19.50ea a few weeks ago. Paul
