:Sorry PattyI just took the trouble to read your whole saga and it's obviously not power if the drives are spinning up. Doh.
Only other thing I can think of to try: Get hold of System 8 or original Umax CD pull all the ram from the mother board slots and it should still fire up with the onboard ram.
