I have been getting a new crop of rather nasty junk lately too. I suspect mine is a result of visiting a lot of PC/Windows sites looking for student discounted software for a nephew who will be going off to university in the fall.
I am using OSX's mail for my email viewing. In Mail, you can select "Show All Headers" in the "View" Menu. That often shows a whole crop of various addresses that the junk has gone through, before reaching your in box. That might give you a source of addresses to block.
In the past, my mail was relatively junk free. But it has been ugly lately. About two weeks ago, I signed up for Spam Cop (the freebie part), at <www.spamcop.net> Although I usually don't think much of these services, I have turned about fifty lowlife spammers in to SpamCop. The spam I receive is getting thinner every day now.
Now if only I could find a SpamCop for the ambulance chasers who are calling about a recent auto accident...
