I'm the proud owner of an s900 with 320MB RAM, a 450MHz G4 Sonnet crescendo
and a Voodoo 3 2000 video card.
I want to upgrade the video card.
What's the best video card I can get to work with my s900?

It is true the best card currently being sold new for the Mac is the ATI Radeon Mac 7000. Most people don't seem to know about the VillageTronic Video card. It's a nice card but sells for nearly the same price as the ATI and is either 8 or 16 MB where as the ATI card is 32 MB. Also the ATI card is needed to use Apple DVD player in OSX or OS 9.x .
You asked what is the "Best" video card for the Mac/ s900. I'd have to say the Sapphire PC Radeon PCI 64MB Video card flashed to Mac ROM. First off Sapphire is a German company and they are the OEM for the built by ATI 7000 Mac cards and and perhaps all the built by ATI cards. Which means they make the so called built by ATI cards. Once the card is flashed it is the same as the ATI card but with twice the Video RAM! Now the bad news since apox Dec of last year all ATI PC cards are being sold with 64k Flash ROM chips. Plenty big enough for the PC ROM but the Mac ROM is 128k. The fix is to de-soldier the FLash ROM chip and replace with the correct 128k chip. These chips are cheap but not every one can soldier. The pins are small and many and you don't want to over heat and kill the card etc. Given the number of people who were not able to follow info and flash the cards. I'd say most people should not think they could soldier on a new chip.
The good news is they are being sold already flashed on ebay. Also list member Jeff W has been known to sell some of these on ebay. Price is less then the ATI Mac 7000 version. Which sells for apox $119.00 or maybe a bit less if you are a sharp shopper. I could contact Jeff and see if he has any if there is interest .Let me know off list. Will S
