I have used Spin Doctor on a couple of machines with OS 9.1. Have you tried the update for both Toast and Spin Doctor? I don't know anything about the Audiomedia III card. I was using a PowerWave, turntable, and preamp. I imported the music file to the hard drive, then used Spin Doctor to clean things up. After cleaning up the pops and hisses I burned them to CD with Toast. You need a sizable amount of hard drive space for the uncompressed music files, but I did not have any distortion that way.
