For a quick test I have a FW box with a LiteOn CD burner in, but I would prefer to have the DVD built-in for tidiness.

Anyone in the UK have a source of supply for these cards please?

I guess that the cards you mention are seen as IDE by the system and not SCSI as the Acard is? I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised that the DVD-RW didn't immediately swing into action :-(
Thanks for the info Will.

The cards made by Acard all see the drives hooked to them as SCSI . This may well be part of the problem for the Acard ATA 66 card. However they have made some firmware changes in their newer cards which include the 100 (no longer sold new) and the 133 card which help them to work with many CDRW and DVD R drives. They also have the advantage of installing OSX with no first 8 gb of the drive limit.
Acard ,SIIG & Miglia (mostly sold in Europe) Mac ATA cards are all made by Acard and the same card. Also the Sonnet ATA 66 (out of production) and Sonnet 133 RAid card are Acard made.
Sonnet 100,133 & Trio 133 cards all use Promise chips with Firmtek firmware and made by Firmtek. These cards all have the first 8 GB of the drive for OSX limit. For sometime they worked with more CDRW & DVDR burners then the Acards but that no longer seems to be true.
For the record Sonnet seems to make very little if any products but buy and re-badge other companies products.
Hope this info helps. Will S
