I was unable to use a G4 / 800 Sonnet in my S900 with numerous attempts
(using OS X of course). I also found NO users successfully running an S900
with a G4 / 800 and OS X (if someone can show me one I would be surprised).
The machine might load X but would freeze in about 10 minutes of use.

>From an earlier post of mine trying to use the Sonnet card:

<<clip>> It was bootable under 9.1 and 9.2 did not use it either OS

Here is what I tried to remedy the G4 / 800 Sonnet card

Added a jumper to J38 effectively removing onboard cache
Purchased 2 brand new OWC 128mb FPM 60ns dimms (tried interleaved in B4 and
A4 and just B4 only) - failed
Using a Mac Edition (retail) PCI 7000 (slot A) - failed
Twin Turbo - really failed
removed Firewire and USB - failed
No SCSI - used only Acard 133 (slot F & slot B) - failed

No matter what I tried with the G4 800 it would NOT work in OS X <<end
clip>>

A Sonnet G4 / 450 card worked great and really preferformed nicely, showing
Xbench scores in the 42 range. I did get the G4 / 800 to work in a PowerMac
7300 (poorly I might add) same gear, and it scored a 45. I even contacted
Sonnet who said, 'we make no claims that it will Support OS X and an S900
together.' hogwash - i say

The G4 / 700 and G4 / 800 from Sonnet I concluded was not a workable
solution.

I have since sold both the Sonnet G4 / 800 and the G4 / 450 (mostly from
disgust) and am pondering buying a Macgurus CPU to use in a carrier card.
The PowerLogix is so DARN tempting tho, would love to have both to try out
:(.

Good luck,
RG
