Hi everyone, I have a J700 w/G3 400 zif upgrade & initio miles SCSI.
I still need help with this. My previous message was:
"I just updated my original 2.1 HD (FWB 4.0.1 driver) to OS 8.6, (I had left it at 8.1 and updated my other two drives previously).
Now I have no chime when starting cold. If I restart from one of the other drives the chime sounds normal. Is this dangerous? Why no Chime? What to do?"
The sound control panel is OK otherwise when I restart from mysecondarydrive I would not have a normal chime.
Hi Barbara;
Each start-up system has its own set of control panels. After starting with no chime go to Control Panels and open Monitors & Sound. Make sure the Computer Volume is turned up( slider to the right) and that Mute is not ckecked. If it is checked click on it to deselect it. Then restart.
Hope this helps,
ernie
