my s900 is being held at OS 9.1 and info i'm replying with is based on what i see in Panther running on the G5 2.0 DP.
in the supermacs i suspect there may be an issue with X and some of the ports such as non-functional SCSI and audio jacks.
as for a USB mike, do search maybe in Macintouch to see if there is mention of one that will work with X/legacy macs.
i think there is one section at that website that covers a bunch of adapters/converters and peripherals.
