I suppose it's possible, tho I don't even know what card it currently has. OS 8.5 doesn't have System Profiler. I know it still has that slight cast to it even in BeOS, not just the Mac OS. I wouldn't think sync-on-green would be an issue with a VGA monitor tho. I'm using the VGA port on the card, and not the Mac video port with an adapter.

A remote possibility is the red gun (excuse the layman's term) going out on your monitor.
Failed soldering, etc. has caused this in the past with certain Apple branded monitors (I got a replacement out of a Apple recall) and it happened to a SONY 400PS (19"), which was replaced by SONY after the 3-year warranty had expired by about 2-3 weeks.
Symptom in both cases - screen turning green, which returned to normal sometimes if I gave it a good whack on the case.
So a quick check might be to connect the monitor to another computer to make sure it's ok.
