Hi,
I have just installed an Adaptec 2940U2B in my S900 and experiencing some difficulties. I have the following config:
Slot 1 : ATI Radeon 7000 Mac edition Slot 2: ADS Dual Link Fw/USB
Slot 5: 2940U2B
The SCSI drive attached to the SCSI card formatted and worked for a while but upon trying to reformat, have had the system hang or simply take ages to do anything with the drive. It is a Seagate 36GB 80 pin Ultra320 SCSI. Do I need any drivers for this card?
I am not sure if these cards are sitting in the correct slots. I have read elsewhere
that the SCSI and video cards MUST be in the upper slots, but am not sure if
the FW/USB card can go in any of the lower slots.
The 2940U2B is one of the cards that does not play nice in the lower slots. If it is the only card in any of the lower slots, then I'm surprised that it is not working, but the U2B is a little flakey.
If all you have is those three PCI cards, then trying moving the U2B to slot 2 and the USB/Firewire to one of the lower slots. This should work. However, if you later add another card to any of slots 3 - 6, then your USB/Firewire card won't work in the lower slots.
