Hi Dan,

While things may look pretty bleak right now I do believe your files still
exist, in some form or another.

It could be that (if they were all in a single folder) that the resource
fork for that folder became corrupted and un-repairable but the individual
files may still exist. Try searching for specific file/document names.

Not often that DW doesn't fix things but maybe there was a hardware glitch
that got in the way. And yes, individual files may have become corrupted
too but for now proceed on the premise that the main folder(s) directories
were corrupted instead as the files themselves could still be intact but
inside that corrupted shell of a folder.

Another thing you might try is to access the drive from an earlier OS such
as 9.1. The documents may be completely visible from there but you will
have to dig around in the various desktop folders. Like Alan said,
"sometimes things can be buried/hidden." But viewing from OS9, even
invisible files can show up. There might even be a 'Rescued Files' folder
that has been created. Do a search for 'Rescued' first in X and then in 9
if and when you reach that stage.

It would be nice if you had some backup of your drive even after the initial
corruption because the more utilities are thrown at the problem they can
sadly corrupt a folder/file even more. But that's often a 'too late a
thought'. Do so now if you can. Then, since DW didn't work right now, I'd
say give TTPro or Norton a try. TTPro has some very specific utilities that
might do the trick. If you don't have either of these, try to booting from
OS9 method and specific file search first.

Just some ideas. Hoping you success.

Dave
