Hardware: Mac G4 Silverwave 733 mHz, 768 MB RAM 120 GB HD partitioned into 102 GB OSX and 8 GB Classic Standard Video Card Audiophile 2496 sound card OS 10.2.8
Software Used: M-Audio Delta Control Panel (sets I/O for the sound card) Spin Doctor (bundled with Toast Titanium 6) Toast Titanium 6
What I want to do is to create DVD audio files of my LPs with separate tracks. I want to label the file by the album name and the tracks with the name of each song.
What I did was record an LP at the DVD audio rate (24 bit, 96kHz). According to the meters in the M-Audio panel and the indicators in Spin Doctor, I was successful. I have an AIFF file of the recording. I filtered out the clicks, pops, and hiss and used the Auto Define Tracks button in Spin Doctor. I clicked on play and I couldn't hear anything. I pulled up the original AIFF file and clicked on play and I heard nothing.
I pulled up the track separated version, then clicked on send tracks to Toast. When Toast loaded, it had the folder tab marked Audio highlighted. To the left of the Toast window was a sidebar that showed Audio CD, MP3 Disc, and DVD Music Album. With Toast set to audio CD, I could click on the individual tracks in Toast and I could hear them, so I know I have the music. I also know that the track separator did not operated properly since I could hear the end of one song before the short silent gap and then the new song started. When I highlight the file that is separated into tracks and put it in Toast with the DVD Music Album clicked I can hear nothing.
What should I do to accomplish my goal using the software I have?
Why didn't the Auto Define Tracks work properly? Is there a way to increase its sensitivity?
Since I could only hear the audio on Toast with the audio CD option clicked on (when the audio is on) did I really get DVD audio?
Does Toast convert DVD audio to CD audio automatically when files are imported into the Audio CD option?
Thanks.
