Hi Jacqueline;
Question:
The drive that you took off of the system --- Was it by chance the 'boot drive' AT THE TIME OF YOUR PANTHER INSTALLATION' -- ?
I have noticed that the 'boot routine' for OSx (Jaguar, for me) makes 'Disk Access' to what was the boot drive during installation, even though the 'target' OSX system is on a completely different drive.

Someone who has a 9.x partition on a drive, and does an install of OSX on another partition on the SAME drive, will never notice that this is happening. Different physical drives, and watching the 'disk activity LEDs, will make apparent what is happening.

I ran into this on an S900, while trying to get a single HD set up with 9.1 and 10.2.8 to be the only disk in the system. The only way it would work, was to scrub (reformat) the disk, partition, install 9.1, REMOVE all other disks, install 10.2.0, and do the updates to get to 10.2.8
After that, the other HDs could be reintroduced to the system and things would work correctly.

Just my own PAINFUL experience.

Hi All.
I have run into a problem with booting into Panther on my S900. It starts to boot up, using XPostFacto, and then hangs. The message says "waiting for the remote debugger" and it doesn't go any farther. I have tried almost all of the settings in the options panel but can't get it to start. All the drives show up in OS9.1 and 9.2. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Everything had been working quite well until I disconnected one of my hard drives as I was going to put another one in. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
Jacqueline
