Are you running OS 9 or OS X ? It can make a difference since OS X needs strong video for decent performance. I would say at least a 400MHz Pismo or a 366MHz iBook would probably be a little slower than the 400MHz S900 due to slower drives and video, etc.... For OS 9 the books may compare pretty good. I could be off on my guestimates because I'm going by my PTPro with about the same specs as your S900 but I would say the 2 Books I mentioned are as low-end as you would want to get.
