Could XPost Facto become corrupted by static? If the machine runs in
OS9.1 I'd load a fresh copy of XPF and see if that works. Paul C

I have 2 J700's that both used to run the Pather
operating systems. One of the 2 ran very smoothly
until a recent thunderstorm hit. However none of the
components look damaged and I have swapped things in
just about every possible way and yet I can not get
either one to boot up in OSX anymore. When using
'verbose' boot text the machine ends up not finding
the root device. A message gets displayed saying:
'Still waiting for root device'. I have been trying to
install OSX onto a 18Gig SCSI disk. I managed to
install it onto a 50gig SCSI disk but cannot boot up
from it reliably. Most of the time the machine hangs
in the same spot. I have taken out the battery and
reset everything many times. I am only using SCSI Bus
1 because things get considerably worse when I connect
anything to SCSI Bus 0. I am at the end of my witts.
If anyone has any ideas. Perhaps a SCSI Bus
termination problem which always has been a mystery to
me.
Any advice is much appreciated
