I know what you mean. This was far and away the most
useful group I've ever come across. The advice was
expert and always friendly. I always figured this
place would go for ever with guys who knew what to
solder where on what board to get things to work
better. <grin> The $500 Mac really changed the
economomics of upgrading things.

I'm hoping this is just a minor setback and that the
community will come back here to ask questions about
things other than SuperMacs. I know they're still out
there working on Minis or what have you. Since I have
my own Mac museum of sorts, I have no intention of
getting rid of my S900 or the 2 C500s. I'm sorta
waiting for my son to get his own apartment so I can
set them all up. They're overflowing my office.

I'm kinda in transition here. Lightening struck
outside our house a little over a week ago and took
out my wifes 7300 (No big loss there. I have at least
a couple more computers similar to it here) and my
son's G4 Silver Bullet. That one appears to be totally
toasted. The start button only stays lit while you
hold it in. The monitor doesn't get a signal either. I
pressed the cuda ... nothing. Took the battery out and
let it sit over night too. Nothing .

We're hoping to get insurance to buy a couple new ones
and wondering just how far they'll go. As nearly as I
can tell, the only part of my own system that was
damaged was a 2.1 Altec Lansing speaker system. They
were pretty good sounding for the money. I'm trying to
get used to the new ones and wondering how much hassle
this is gonna be.
