Hi,

Earlier this month there were some posts regarding fan replacement for the S900. I've often wished for a quieter J700 as well but looking inside the box, it looks a bit daunting for someone not used to hardware modification. It looks like the main fan is built into the power supply case. If you buy a replacement fan, is it difficult to get into this case and does it have connectors that can be plugged in or is some kind of cutting and splicing necessary?

Then I remember a few years back I bought another J700 power supply when they were liquidating them at Small Dog (just to have one on hand). So I took a look at this and it has a sticker that says "Better quality with temperature controlled fan". Does anyone know if this is possibly a newer quieter fan in this power supply? I don't think the original fan is temperature controlled.

Also, I haven't looked lately but I think there's also a 2nd fan in the J700; I'm not sure but is that one drawing air into the machine? Does anyone have any experience with replacing these fans?

thanks,
Walter
