A dual purpose card(USB/Firewire) usually doesn't work in a lower slot
due to Bridge Chip issues. It may work with Either a USB or Firewire
device plugged in, but not both at the same time, Some Adaptec SCSI
cards have been problematic too-check the comments at OWC in the free
part of Ryan's site. In the past the advice was to remove all non
essential PCI cards, do the install, then replace them qand see if the
OSX system recognizes them. Will had several detailed posts on this

loading of drivers and mounting drives, no error messages, last
message is "Call Kernel", the a new screen with the following text and
then no more activity:

mig_table_max_displ = 68
IOKit Component version 7.0:
