CPU Dir 2.0b1 worked first time with no problems and adjusted right up to 900 Mhz, it reports my CPU as a
750 FX.
Sad to hear you had so many problems, maybe it is because of your experience and others PowerLogix went back and revamped the card ? I used a 400Mhz card from them and it was also P&P - Go figure ?
OWC has been around a long time and it is with the company's support that we also have XpostFacto, lacking this and all the work that has been done I think few of us would be taking our machines boldly were no machine (circa 1996 design) was meant to go into the OS X world.
I can compleatly understand your feelings to not be down the problematic CPU road again, yet I can only relate to you my drop in and play experience.
Best of luck,
Frank

Well that's interesting. I wonder if their 1 gig cards have had too many
returns. I wonder if they
have been "revised". I see the regular price is now cheaper than when I bought
mine on sale.
The 1 GHz card I bought, and never got to work properly, looks pretty much like
the photo of 900
MHz. The 900 is a whole lot cheaper. My gig card was on "sale" for $210 and
this is only $139. It
is very, very tempting to try a third time....but I'm still smarting from
roughly 2 weeks of
trying everything I could think of, and everything the Tech suggested, to get
the card (and then
its replacement) to work...in 2 different machines.
I also notice CPU Director is still required. That's where I had the majority
of problems. I first
tried version 1.5f6, which came with the card and what PowerLogix' Tech said
was the right one to
use. Then I tried version 2.1 which, at the time, PowerLogix web site said
would work with both OS
10 and OS 9.x. (I have 9.1). It didn't work either. I can't remember wether I
tried 2.0b1 which is
listed at OWC's site.
When I bought my card back in July none of the info now on OWC's site regarding
which software to
use was listed and I think, but I'm not sure, that 1.5f6 and 2.1 were the only
versions available
from PowerLogix' download section.
So, are you using CPUD 2.0b1 and does it work without problems?
