I've finally gotten around to putting one of my WD40 gig HDs into a firewire case. This drive was in my s900 and it became flakey and ultimately disappeared from the desktop.

I've seen complaints about WD HDs and sonnet ATA100 cards in various places. I couldn't get the WD40 gig initialize or repair or do anything with any utility I had. Anyway sticking it in the firewire case I get nothing. The firewire case comes on with the green active light and as soon as my G4 polls it the light goes red.

Does anyone have any ideas how to recover it to a functional level. Or should I try Western Digital and see if they will take it back, I don't know how long their warranty lasts.
