it seems to be very simple to configure. I have a "Host" computer
my Quicksilver G4 that runs the app and the supermac that hosts
iTunes and my music library, you enable Apple Remote events on server
and on the host open the app and give the ip or "computer name" of
the music server ... simple enough?

the app doesn't "see" the supermac ???

This is probably too simple to be helpful, but do you need to enable sharing in iTunes on the SuperMac? Version 4.0 and greater of iTunes has the ability to share your music over your network, but you must turn the option on in the preferences. If you're running a version of iTunes earlier than 4.0, then this option is not available, and that could cause some confusion if the software developer assumes you're running the latest version.

I hope that helps, because that would make your solution easy. :-)
