In addition to what Lee said, you need to modify your profile.ini file
to point to the new location as described in
"http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Changing_Profile_Folder_Location#Modify_profiles.ini_to_point_to_the_new_location_-_Advanced"
Maybe this is supposed to be done automagically when the migration
wizard is run but I had to follow the instructions above to get it to
work.
Be aware that his is a one time operation, that is, you won't have to do
it again as new releases of SM2 become available. You only have to do it
the first time you convert from 1.1.x to 2.0
Indeed, it should happen automagically. When the new profile is created
in Profile Manager, it should edit profiles.ini. Thanks for the heads up
that it dod not work for you.

Thanks for the info. My experience was with SM2.0b1 (see my message of
8/16 Trouble Moving SM2.0b1 Profile to a New Location ) so perhaps it
wasn't working properly in that release. It sure was a royal PITA at the
time.
It should be noted that I did all my pre release testing on Mac's. I
didn't install it on Windows until the release, so that might account
for the difference.
