Nope. Could the problem be that I'm on a Mac? There is no checkbox
under "Server Settings" that says "Automatically download new
messages".
Yes there is for Mac User.
Edit Menu > Mail & Newsgroups Account settings > click on each email box
title and news group title > server settings.
They have to be set for each account.
