Thanks, but there is no such checkbox. I have a screenshot I can send
anyone who's interested, which clearly shows I'm running Seamonkey 2.0
on MacOS, and there's no such checkbox in the server settings for my
account. It reads, from the top:
Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
Server Name: <my server name> Port: 143
User Name: sam
Security Settings
Connection security: none
(unchecked) Use secure authentication
Server Settings
(unchecked) Check for messages at startup
(unchecked) Check for new messages every 0 minutes
When I delete a message:
(checked) Move it to this folder: Trash
(unchecked) Just mark it as deleted
(unchecked) Remove it immediately
(unchecked) Clean up ("Expunge") Inbox on Exit
(unchecked) Empty Trash on Exit
Local directory:
<my local directory>
and that's it, besides the Cancel and OK buttons at the bottom, and an
Advanced button to the right of Empty Trash on Exit which takes you to
a pane which allows you to specify some properties of the IMAP server.
The only possible checkbox in that pane which might be remotely
relevant is "Use IDLE command if the server supports it". I have no
idea whether the IDLE command is supported by my server, but the box
is unchecked anyway.
Thanks so far to all who replied, but I don't seem to be any closer to
an answer yet.
