Yes.  It seems like I have the same behavior.

I have Zone Alarm running. Seemed ok with the previous version I had
installed which was, I think, 1.1.18.

What O/S or platform are you using?

Win XP.

I've tried both ways. BTW, when I first installed 2.0 I had to fiddle
with the settings for email, unclicking the user name and password
setting for the outgoing SMTP server.
