Okay ... one last try, then I give up. Each "place" where you can place messages is a mailbox. The mailbox named "Inbox" is the main mailbox in the account where new messages are downloaded. However, messages can be copied/moved from Inbox to any other mailbox (even to mailboxes in other accounts). Each "account" can have any number of mailboxes - you can create mailboxes until the cows come home. Now, with this understanding, go back and look at what I said about the filters, or don't.
