On a PC running XP-Home, I have tried to install SM v.2.01 so that it
can be used by multiple users but I am not doing something right.
I need to have both the PC and SM accessible by four users: myself,
wife, and two grandchildren. In XP, I have a Welcome Screen account for
each of the four of us although the two grandchildren's XP accounts are
of the 'limited' type. As I understand SM, I need to have profiles for
each of the four of us.
Each Windows user has his/her own directory in \Documents and settings\
Each Windows usersprofile will be created in his directory, you don't
need to manually create the SM profiles (although you can if you prefer to)
The problem I am experiencing is that when I install SM, it installs on
the HD but appears only in one XP account.
I'm unsure if this is normal or not right now, but have you installed it
with administrator-rights?
If you did and it installed successfully, just create a shortcut on the
users desktop or in the startmenu, fire it up and confirm t make it the
dfault application when it asks on first start, done. :-)
This implies that I have to
install SM four times and take up a lot of HD space with SM files that
are identical.
No! Not necessary.
It seems to me that what I should end up with is four
sets of profile files, one for each user, but only a single set of SM
files.
Yes.
