when you actually do the search, does it return millions of pages
that have "some" in them, millions of pages that have "thing" in them,
etc, etc or just the pages that have "some thing with spaces" in them??

In other words, is the % a magic "connecting" character??

Daniel

That test didn't use quotes to contain the phrase so no pages with those words
in that exact order were returned, so yes, lots-o-pages with individual words
highlighted (bolded).

Upon the second search using the string that had the spaces replaced with %,
the results were identical, so Google ignored the %.

If I put a search phrase within quotes, such as "walt disney world", the same thing happens. After
clicking the search button in the sidebar (or hitting Enter key), the spaces are replaced with %, per
"walt%disney%world", and of course, the webpage returns hits with the highlighted phrase "Walt
Disney World". etc. etc.
