Using SM 2.0.4 and I have Foxit reader as default PDF reader--David's
garden link opens in a new tab in my browser, both Phillips and Hartmut
invoke the Foxit reader externally and leave a blank tab in the browser.

How I have mine setup in my site I've uploaded the PDF's then when you click a Link the link goes to the pdf where ever its location might be.

I guess that's an argument against the using Tabs. :-)

Maybe something is set wrong in your Preference setting (Preference is term used in Macintosh. whatever your settings adjustment might be).

Now I have tabs turned off but the others settings should apply.
