That might not be a bad idea. I've read of lots of people with profile
problems, and I think many them had to reinstall SM. I haven't had that
problem, so I can't offer any useful advice.
Hopefully, someone else will chime in with some suggestions.

FYI: Uninstalling/reinstalling SeaMonkey doesn't clean out any problems
which may be in the profile.
But if the profile were misconfigured in the program itself due to an
error or somesuch during installation, would not uninstalling it
completely and starting from scratch have a possibility of correcting
the configuration error?
I'm just now starting my IT classes (after 18 weeks of General ed...

more technical aspects of programs and such, so please forgive me if I

Just remove the profile to another location, and compress the file
Then open SM and have it regenerate one. Then you can move your emails
over. Then you can resubscribe to your news groups The easiest way to
merge you old mail with new is in the old profile cahange the inbox file
name (not the one with msf attached to it) to some name called old mail.
and insert in the mail folder of new profile. and it should pick them
up. then you can move from one place to the other and delte directory
when finished.
