So it is not possible to remove Chatzilla with the new AOM. With the old
one it was possible either to disable or to uninstall Chatzilla.

Probably a bug which will be fixed. Hopefully. :)

Extensions installed into the global application extensions directory
e.g. .../seamonkey/extensions/ cannot be uninstalled by design. We are
using the toolkit addons manager in SeaMonkey 2.0 onwards and this is
the same behaviour in Firefox and Thunderbird. If you installed an
additional version of Chatzilla in your profile (e.g. via extension
updates[1]) then you can then uninstall it, but doing that just exposes
the global version.

[1] This is a known bug. If you have a global extension, the update
mechanism should update that instance and not install the update into
the profile. But fixing this needs to take care of edge cases where the
user hitting the update button doesn't have r+w+ access to the
seamonkey/extensions directory.

What about people like Hartmut and myself that have no use for, or desire for ChatZilla and want to get rid of it altogether. On my version which is 2.0.4 once ChatZilla is disabled I can uninstall it.
