I have a rather large folder of saved email messages (now using SeaMonkey 2.0.x, but it was long established under SeaMonkey 1.x) in which a large period of messages -- spanning almost two years worth -- disappeared from the folder listing. Instead, the last message still displayed before the break is listed as having an enormous size -- it does have an attachment, but nowhere near that big!

I suspect that the messages are still there, but somehow the file is corrupted so that they look as if they are part of that last message before the break.

Rebuilding the summary file does not fix this. Compacting the folder does not fix this.

(It turns out that I have a backup that has these messages visible, so I'm not in a panic.)

I was just wondering if there were any way to recover messages in a folder that had somehow been swallowed up as apparent attachments to a preceding message.
